As you’ve probably already noticed, it’s been very, very chilly around Greater Manchester recently.

While a little bit of winter chill can help us get in the festive mood, when things get a bit too cold it can all become a bit of a struggle – and according to reports that’s exactly what’s about to happen.

Weather forecasters are predicting the UK is set to face ‘40 days of freezing weather’, as the country is pummeled by an Arctic blast, potentially bringing some snow with it as well.

With temperatures expected to dip below 0C, 11 inches of snow has been forecast in parts of Scotland and Northern England, according to Weathertrending.

The head of meteorological operations at the Weather Company, Leon Brown, also had a warning for us, predicting a long period of icy, cold weather incoming.

He explained to the Express: “Thirty to 40 days with snow or ice disruption are expected this winter in Scotland and parts of northern England. After cold spells in December, more sustained cold is expected during January and February.”

That means if you haven’t already, it’s time to get your big coat out…
