Tributes have been pouring in for Imelda Mounfield, the wife of Stone Roses bassist Mani, who died of cancer.
Stars from the music world as well as members of the public have been sending tributes online, including singers Ian Brown and Rowetta.
Ms Mounfield, 52, who was mum to 10-year-old twin sons, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer three years ago.
Imelda’s death was announced on Saturday November 18th. She leaves behind her boys and husband Mani, 61.
She and Mani raised thousands for charities and causes close to their heart, including The Christie in Manchester and The Stockport Charitable Trust,by organising auctions of items from David Beckham and Oasis.
Speaking to ITV Granada Reports last year, Imelda said: “The tumour in my bowel had spread to my liver. It was a massive shock, because I wasn’t really poorly.
“Then I had some emergency surgery, and I responded quite well to chemo, so I’ve been on quite a big journey over the past two years.”
Mani said: “When you’ve been told first of all you’ve got cancer, then you might not live five years, it’s two proper Tyson blows.
“Walking on stage at Wembley stadium in front of 90 thousand people is a doddle compared to this. It’s made me so appreciative of the NHS for what they do and it’s made me reevaluate everything. All these gigs, all these records, they don’t mean a thing.
“It means nothing, as long as this lady’s ok and my family’s ok, everything else is superfluous.”
Singer Rowetta from the Happy Mondays posted a tribute to say Imelda was ‘so brave, so beautiful and so loved’, adding: “thank you for being a beautiful friend”.
Former Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown posted a tribute which read: “God Bless Mani and his boys”.
