Dozens of empty plates have been left outside of a Conservative MP’s office this weekend as part of a peaceful protest by the All Rise Collective.

All Rise Collective is a group of inclusive feminist allies in the local community in Southend that have targeted Southend West MP Sir David Amess.

David was one of the 322 MPs who voted against the Labour motion to extend free school meals until Easter 2021 last week.

Locals left messages on empty plates and left them outside of the Southend West Conservative Association building on Sunday.

The All Rise Collective shared their protest plan on Saturday but were amazed to see the number of people queuing the next morning.

The plates donned handwritten messages on them including ‘no child should go hungry’, ‘Tories for the few, not the many’ and ‘lunch is not a luxury’.

Posters were also placed outside the office entrances with a list of places you could get food under a banner that read “Who gives a crap? Not the Tories”.

Some posters also feature a list of food banks, restaurants, pubs and cafes that had donated meals as part of Marcus Rashford’s campaign to feed vulnerable families.

Manchester United have confirmed today they will be providing 5,000 meals for local kids over the half term.

Plenty of Manchester restaurants have also offered up free meals for kids throughout the school holidays.
