Tony Morris’ daughters Natalie and Rebecca have shared a tribute to their dad and ‘best friend’ on Twitter.

Natalie shared a heartbroken tribute to her dad, where she called him their ‘best friend’.

Tony died on Saturday at Bury Hospital with daughters Natalia and Rebecca at his side, after being diagnosed with kidney cancer last year.

The Tweet reads: “We lost our incredible dad on Saturday morning. He was more than a parent, he was also our best friend. We are utterly heartbroken but so grateful for the time we had with him.”

The tribute continues: “We will be offline with family for a while, but so appreciative of the lovely messages Nat & Becky x”.

Alongside the Tweet was three pictures of the daughters with their father.

Natalie added that, instead of sending flowers, people should give donations to Bury Hospice. She added: “We will forever appreciate the care, kindness and respect that the wonderful nurses provided for dad”.

Natalie added a link to Bury Hospice donate online, where you can create a standing order or donate a certain amount.

It lays out what each amount of money will buy for the hospice, for example £10 which will buy a patient’s meal, or £100 which will pay for a nurse for a day.

It comes after many tributes were paid this morning, including from Kate Garraway and Ben Shepard on Good Morning Britain.

Lucy Meacock, Tony’s presenting partner on Granada Reports, also spoke about her loss to viewers on a special tribute programme.

She finished with: “He was without doubt one of the most humble, kind and funny people I have ever met, and he would often make me laugh until my sides ached.

“A smile from Tony Morris always brightened everyone’s day and certainly brightened up the whole of the North West for 17 years.”
