The Tiger King zoo has closed down permanently

Joe Exotic’s infamous zoo has had to permanently close, allegedly due to increased pressure from animal rights charity, Peta. 

Lockdown has been weird but the easily weirdest part was when we were all dressing up as Joe Exotic, singing his weird songs and shouting ‘that b*tch Carole Baskin!’.

We were all obsessed with Joe Exotic, and some people even wrote to him in prison while he serves a 22-year sentence for his involvement in a murder-for-hire plot and animal abuse. 

But still, the popularity hasn’t been enough to save the zoo and in fact, the zoo has been handed over to The B*tch herself, Carole Baskin.

Jeff Lowe, former business partner of Joe Exotic, announced the decision in a Facebook post where he blamed ‘the pressures’ of animal rights charity Peta.

He wrote: “The Tiger King phenomenon has definitely changed our lives in many ways. It has brought us more attention than any human deserves, good and bad.

“It has, and probably will continue to make us a target of every nutjob and animal rights loon in the world, but we are prepared.”

Lowe has also voluntarily forfeited his exhibitor’s license – which allowed him to buy and sell animals -due to the park’s permanent closure.

He said that after ‘five consecutive perfect inspections’, the USDA have now ‘folded to the pressures of Peta and continue to make false accusations against me’.

Lowe added: “Suspiciously, less than 24 hours after I contacted the USDA to voluntarily forfeit my license, they notify me that they are suspending my license for 21 days for a litany of falsehoods.”

Brittany Peet, who works on the captive animal team at Peta, said: “Peta looks forward to seeing every one of the long-suffering animals at the G.W. Zoo be transferred to an appropriate facility where it won’t take federal intervention for a sick cat to receive veterinary care.”

Lowe said the Netflix show ‘provided them with an unfathomable source of income’.

Carole has been in the headlines herself, mostly about her alleged involvement in the disappearance and presumed death of her husband in 1997. She has strongly denied any of the reports that have come out. 

Speaking on how the show had caused the theories to come to a wider audience, Carole said: “It has a segment devoted to suggesting, with lies and innuendos from people who are not credible, that I had a role in the disappearance of my husband Don 21 years ago.

“The series presents this without any regard for the truth or in most cases even giving me an opportunity before publication to rebut the absurd claims.

“They did not care about truth. The unsavoury lies are better for getting viewers.”
