The Prime Minister was taken to intensive care last night, Monday April 6th, as his condition had deteriorated following his Covid-19 diagnosis.
Boris Johnson was originally rushed to hospital on Sunday, as his coronavirus symptoms worsened and he struggled to breathe.
This afternoon Downing Street released an update on his condition, revealing that the Prime Minister was stable and in ‘good spirits’.
They added that he is receiving oxygen but hasn’t needed to go on a ventilator – he also doesn’t have pneumonia.
Now the Queen has sent a message to Mr Johnson and his partner Carrie Symonds, wishing him a ‘full and speedy recovery’.
The official Royal Family tweeted this afternoon: “Earlier today The Queen sent a message to Carrie Symonds and to the Johnson family.
“Her Majesty said they were in her thoughts and that she wished the Prime Minister a full and speedy recovery.”
A joint statement from Downing Street and St Thomas’ Hospital from earlier today read: “The PM has been stable overnight and remains in good spirits.
“He is receiving standard oxygen treatment and is breathing without any other assistance. He has not required mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support.”
