Teenager charged with murder following death of Sadiq Al-lami on Kingsway

Officers have charged an 18-year-old with murder over the death of Sadiq Al-lami in a ‘traffic lights altercation’ in East Didsbury.

Noraiz Kamal, 18, is due to appear at Stockport Magistrates Court on Friday, January 26th.

Sadiq Al-lami, 30, was seriously injured in the incident which occurred shortly before 1.40am on Tuesday, January 23rd.

Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene at the junction near Parrs Wood on the A34 Kingsway, in East Didsbury.

Sadiq was taken to hospital but sadly died of his injuries a short time later, despite the best attempts of emergency services and medical staff.

His family described him as someone whose ‘warmth and love touched the hearts of  everyone’.

Paying tribute to their beloved Sadiq, his loved ones said: “Sadiq’s warmth and love touched the hearts of everyone that he met. 

“His love and laughter were contagious, and he was always full of life. Sadiq will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten.”

Specially trained officers are continuing to support the family who have requested further privacy whilst they grieve for their loss.

Detective Inspector Alex Wilkinson of GMP Major Incident Team said: “Our thoughts remain with Sadiq’s family who continue to be supported by specially trained officers and are aware of the progress being made in this investigation.

“As a result of our enquiries, a male has been charged with murder, however the investigation is still in its early stages. 

“There are still a number of people who we believe were present at the scene that we would like to speak to and we continue to appeal to anyone with information about Sadiq’s death to contact police.

“Vehicles involved in this incident had been driving at high speed near Parrs Wood on the A34 Kingsway in East Didsbury at around 1.30am.”
