Teenage boy in hospital following Stockport ‘acid attack’
Officers believe the attack was targeted and are appealing for information
A teenager from Stockport was rushed to hospital following an ‘acid attack’ in Stockport at the weekend.
Greater Manchester Police detectives have launched an investigation after the boy was exposed to the corrosive liquid in Vaudrey Road, Woodley at around 10pm on Sunday (March 24th).
The 16-year-old was rushed to hospital where it is understood his condition is ‘stable and not life-threatening’.
The force said the substance had been tested and was confirmed to be acid. Detectives believe the attack to be targeted but that there is no wider threat to the public.
Officers are appealing for information about the incident. No arrests have currently been made.
Detective Inspector Micheal Jimenez of GMP’s Stockport district, said: “Enquiries are being conducted by our detectives in Stockport’s CID as we work to establish what the liquid was that was used as well as finding those responsible.
“Officers are keeping an open-mind into the timeline of events leading up to the incident, but do believe that it was targeted with no threat to the wider public.
