The Health Secretary told ITV’s This Morning that the public likely won’t be able to go out of the country for the rest of the summer months.

Holly and Phil asked Mr Hancock whether ‘summer was cancelled’ he replied: “I think that’s likely to be the case but we haven’t made a final decision on that yet”.

He continued: “I think it’s unlikely that international holidays will be possible for this summer, I think that’s the reality.”

Mr Hancock didn’t confirm or deny whether holidays in the UK would be available to the public for the rest of the year.

Mr Hancock also admitted that the point when this will be ‘totally sorted’ will be when there is a vaccine.

The latest updates on Coronavirus from the government include being able to enjoy unlimited time outdoors and the possibility of meeting up with one person outside of your household in a public place such as a park, while following the social distancing measures.

The government also announced it’s ready to reimpose previous restrictions if there was a sign of the transmission rate increasing again.

Ministers are expected to set out guidance on how people can safely travel on public transport later today.
