A young student who was given £5,000 from Jack Grealish to help pay for his cancer treatment has sadly passed away.

Dylan Lamb, 20, a student from Liverpool University, was diagnosed with Precursor T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia earlier this year.

A Go Fund Me page was set up to raise the cash to pay for him to travel to America to have life-saving treatment.

Manchester City footballer Jack Grealish donated £5,000 to the cause but Dylan’s friends confirmed the sad news of his death on Saturday August 26th.

A post on social media read: “He went in his sleep with his family by his side, having said his goodbyes to all of his friends the day before and he was still full of laughs and jokes.

“I cannot put into words the love that us lads and Dylan’s family have felt through this difficult time. We cannot thank everyone enough for the continued support and love.

“I hope we have done you proud bro and I hope you know that we will always love you.”

Dylan’s aunt Karen posted: “Rest in peace my beautiful darling.” And heavyweight boxer Farzer Clarke was among those who commented on the post to pay tribute.

Dylan was taken to A&E by his mum, Kim Veitch, after having ‘unbearable back pain’ last year, thinking he had perhaps pulled a muscle.

But blood tests revealed the devastating news that he had T-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a type of blood cancer.

Prior to having his chemotherapy treatment, Dylan made the decision to freeze his sperm in case he became infertile.

After a change in chemotherapy, he was told he was in remission on July 5th, 2022. After finding a donor, he underwent a stem cell transplant in September before being discharged in October.

Dylan began getting back to normal and carrying on with his life, even attending university again, where he was studying international business.

But in June this year he began to feel pain in his back again and doctors confirmed that unfortunately, his cancer had returned and was more aggressive this time round. Dylan was told he may have ‘weeks or months’ to live.

Dylan’s girlfriend of three years, Phoebe Cole, 20, told ITV News: “He had this lower back pain that could have been multiple different things, he thought he had pulled a muscle. We were coming home for Easter and it got progressively worse, he lost his appetite and was being sick.

“His mum took him to A&E in unbearable pain and a blood test showed his white blood cells were through the roof. It all happened so fast, he was diagnosed with leukaemia and then three days later he was having chemotherapy.”
