A puppy stolen from a girl while playing in her garden in Greater Manchester has now been found, police have said.
The dachshund puppy was stolen from a girl as she played on a swing in her garden in Orrell, Wigan, on Saturday April 22nd at around 6.50pm.
The four-month-old pup named ‘Dotty’ was taken from the home on Moor Road by a man who ran off in an unknown direction, according to police.
Greater Manchester Police launched an appeal after a man reportedly walked into the garden, picked up the puppy, then ran away. Pictures of Dotty were shared and members of the public with any information were urged to come forward.
In an update, the force has now announced some good news — little Dotty had been found and officers thanked those who shared the appeal.
GMP Wigan West wrote: “Following on from yesterday’s social media post regarding the theft of a dog in Orrell, we are happy to confirm that the dog has now been located. Many thanks for sharing the post.”
The force did not provide any further details on Dotty’s health or how she had been found.
The pet dachshund was described as being ‘still very young’ as officers appealed for information when the puppy went missing.
The thief, believed to be in his 30s, was described as being mixed race and wore a black jumper bearing the word ‘security’ on the front.
