Greater Manchester Police have revealed that a city-centre pub was continuing to serve to customers despite lockdown rules.

An officer from Greater Manchester Police tweeted about the incident on Tuesday evening, describing the behaviour as ‘reckless’.

Licensing officers found customers to be drinking inside the bar despite all hospitality venues being forced to close in the national lockdown restrictions.

From today, pub, bars and restaurants will be able to open in Manchester if they are able to offer takeaway and delivery. If not they must remain closed due to the Tier 3 restrictions.

The tweet read: “A city centre pub has been fined for breaching coronavirus regulations.

“GMP licensing officers found customers in the bar drinking despite pubs being required to close to the public.

“Reckless behaviour by a minority of businesses will not be tolerated & enforcement action taken.”

They did not reveal the name of the premises or the specific fine amount.
