A plane was spotted flying over the Etihad during Manchester City’s top of the table clash with Liverpool yesterday afternoon.

The plane was seen flying a banner which read: “British To Be Minority By 2066”.

The banner caught the attention of people at the game, with photos of it appearing on Twitter during the first half.

Video footage also started to appear online during the match, which saw Premier League leaders Man City take on second place Liverpool, who were just one point behind them.

Journalist Tom Young posted about the incident, saying: “There is currently a plane flying over the Etihad with a banner that reads: ‘British To Be Minority By 2066’.

“Words fail me.”

Less than two years ago a similar controversial banner was flown over the Etihad, reading ‘White Lives Matter Burnley’, this time during City’s game with Burnley.

The game itself ended 2-2, meaning the two teams are still separated by just one point, with Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus scoring for City and Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane getting on the scoresheet for Liverpool.

As such, Man City remain top of the table as the season approaches its end.
