As we come out of the other side of a weekend of awful weather across the country, it seems we’re not in the clear yet. Storm Ciara saw strong winds and torrential rain batter Greater Manchester and other parts of the UK. While the weather has settled somewhat, there are still weather warnings in place, and the Met Office is forecasting snow and ice in several of Greater Manchester’s boroughs today.

According to the Met Office, Oldham and Rochdale are going to see snow on higher ground, with train, bus and other road journeys likely to be affected.
Other parts of the region will most likely see sleet, although a snow warning is still in place.
Over in Oldham, snow is forecast this afternoon, with a heavy fall at 3pm followed by a lighter covering until 7pm, when it’ll start to get heavy again – temperatures will feel a very chilly -4C/-5C for most of the day.
It’s a similar story in Rochdale, with heavy snow forecast at 3pm, followed by heavy rain, and some sleet later in the afternoon.

In Manchester, a yellow weather warning is in place for snow and ice, although there isn’t any forecast for today, with rain more likely, and it’s the same story over in Stockport.
Salford, Bolton and Bury all have the same yellow weather warning from the Met Office, however, only sleet is forecast – at around 6pm for Salford, and 3pm for Bolton and Bury. Trafford and Tameside also have the warning, but are only forecast rain, while Wigan has no weather warning in place – although rain is forecast this afternoon. Whatever the weather is like where you are, just remember to stay safe!
