An interactive map of all the places offering free meals for kids has now been launched.

It comes following Marcus Rashford’s attempts to end food poverty in the UK. Last week, Conservative MPs voted against the motion to extend the free school meal scheme until Easter 2021.

The United player spent last week sharing restaurants and eateries who had decided to offer free meals for kids themselves.

The map has been set up by Joe Freedman who launched the ‘All Kids Matter’ website.

The map is described by Joe as: “Hats off to Marcus Rashford. List taken from Marcus’ tweet listing names and locations, as well as venues submitting their help.”

Last week, McDonald’s announced that they would be pledging £1m worth of free meals over the half term.

They announced the news on Twitter and explained that the funding will help FareShare re-distribute food to families who need it the most.

Rashford has been at the forefront of the campaign to end food insecurity and poverty in the UK brought on due to the pandemic.

Over summer, he campaigned for the government to allow 1.3 million children to claim free school meal vouchers over the school’s summer holidays.

Rashford tweeted over the weekend a thank you to the public, he wrote: “I heard a couple of days ago that going in to the debate the feeling was that the British public wouldn’t care about the issue of child hunger a second time around.

“Boy did you prove that theory wrong…

“Those who have rallied around our communities, please continue to do so, you are the real pride of Britain.

“Some of our children will be waking up anxious this Monday morning, let’s show them that there is never any shame in asking for help. Thank you”
