Morrisons has confirmed its car parks will be used as Covid-19 vaccination centres.

Chief executive, David Potts, explained the assets of the company are at ‘the disposal of the country’. He told reporters that portable buildings would be up and running at three stores from January 11th.

He added: “We have offered up another 47 subject to requirements and availability of the vaccine”.

For those worried there might be caps on products at stores during the new lockdown, Potts has confirmed that for now, Morrisons will not introduce limits.

He said: “We haven’t got limits on things like pasta and flour and all of those things that people seem to stock up on.

“I think we’ll see how the British people handle the news. Clearly, we can turn it on fairly sharpish and it’s really making sure that everyone has stock.”

Sales at Morrisons are up 9.3% compared to a year ago over the past three weeks, due to the festive period.

Potts added that sales also increased in November as the stores, deemed as essential, remained open. In particular, he explained, this was seen in Tier 4 where customers were shopping at the only stores that were open due to boredom.
