Both NHS and supermarket workers have been on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic, having to work in demanding conditions. So it’s only fitting that one supports the other in these difficult times. But while the NHS is always there to help supermarket workers when they need it, what are supermarkets doing for healthcare workers? Well, Morrisons is stepping up to help support them, giving NHS workers a 10% discount on their shopping for three months from tomorrow, Thursday April 16th.
The supermarket wrote on Facebook: “Words can’t express the gratitude the Nation feels towards the brave people of our National Health Service, as they work so very hard in the fight against Covid-19. “We at Morrisons want to say thank you, so to mark our appreciation we will offer a 10% discount on NHS workers’ shopping.
“To participate, simply show a valid NHS photo ID card at the checkout and we will deduct 10% off your shopping basket. The 10% discount will run from Thursday 16th April for 3 months.”

In these uncertain times, some employers have stepped up to recognise the incredible effort their workers have made and some have disgraced themselves (Wetherspoons comes to mind). When it comes to stepping up, both Tesco and Aldi are paying their staff a 10% bonus to say thanks for their hard work, and Asda is giving all vulnerable staff who need to self-isolate for 12 weeks paid leave.
Morrisons is also on that list, after it announced staff will be getting an extra £1,050 in their pay packets this year, to say thanks for their hard work.
