As our brave frontline workers get on with the task of tackling the coronavirus pandemic, it’s time we shone a light on some of them to give them the praise they deserve.

Like dad and daughter duo Brian and Yasmin, two paramedics who have been responding together on overtime shifts, working for the North West Ambulance Service.

According to the NWAS, Brian joined the service as an emergency medical technician back in 2009, after he was inspired by the treatment his father received.

He’s now fully qualified as a paramedic, while his 24-year-old daughter Yasmin followed in his footsteps by joining the trust too.

She’s been undertaking an emergency medical technician apprenticeship since last year, which she is due to complete very soon.

And Angela – Brian’s wife and Yasmin’s mum – has also worked for the NWAS for a number of years, and is now training to be a paramedic.

Yasmin said: “My mum has inspired us both to do this job, to never give up and that you can work your way up. That’s what we hope to do.”

The pair were tweeted about by the service, who took to social media to give them a shout out.

They wrote on Twitter: “We want to spread some happiness and share some stories of our fabulous staff who deserve to be named #TeamNWAS Superstars!

“Dad and daughter duo Brian and Yasmin have been responding together on an overtime shift and we think it’s super sweet.”

When it comes to coronavirus, Yasmin has a simple message for the public: “Please stay at home unless it’s for something essential. Please only ring for an ambulance if you really need to and keep up to date with the guidance available from the government.

“Hang in there, be nice to each other and stay safe!”

What an inspirational family!
