McDonald’s has finally given us the news we’ve been waiting for, confirming that it will reopen some of its UK branches soon. The fast food giant confirmed it’ll open 15 branches on May 13th, as part of the first phase of reopening. Initially the branches will be open for delivery only and with a reduced menu.

McDonald’s will introduce strict social distancing measures in-store when they finally start serving food again.
This will include perspex screens at checkouts and asking customers to pay by contactless where possible, as well as asking customers to respect social distancing restrictions.
Employees will be given gloves and masks, and will have regular temperature checks before shifts to make sure they’re not ill.
McDonald’s UK and Ireland CEO Paul Pomroy said: “When we return it will be different as we all adjust to this new normal. I want to apologise in advance if our first wave of reopened restaurants does not serve your area.
“Rest assured, we are working hard to reopen more restaurants, but I am adamant this must be at the right pace with the wellbeing of our employees, suppliers and customers front of mind.
“Slowly, but safely, we will return to towns and cities across the UK and Ireland, and thank you for your continued support as we work through this crisis.”

When they do reopen, the food will only be available via Uber Eats, and you won’t be able to order through the McDonald’s app.
A full list of the restaurants reopening has yet to be confirmed, but Maccies said they would release the information nearer the time.
