Manchester United announce memorial service details for Sir Bobby Charlton

More specific details will be issued in due course, the club said

Manchester United have announced the details of a memorial service to celebrate the life of footballing legend Sir Bobby Charlton.

The service for Sir Bobby will be held at Manchester Cathedral on November 13th with a procession leading to the venue leaving from Old Trafford football stadium.

The family will then attend a private funeral ceremony for close friends and loved ones.

Manchester United said the service would provide a ‘moment for reflection’ as well as giving fans a chance to say their final farewell and pay their respects to the England and ‘true Manchester United legend’.

Since Sir Bobby’s passing on October 21st, thousands of fans have already left flowers and tributes to honour his life and football career, at Old Trafford.

The ground beneath the famous Trinity statue of him, alongside teammates George Best and Denis Law, has been filled with tributes left by adoring fans.

More than 80,000 fans have also signed the books of condolence both online and in-person at Old Trafford, the club said.

Sir Bobby Charlton was a key member of England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team and Manchester United named its South Stand after the legend. He sadly passed away aged 86 on Saturday, October 21st.

Manchester United said further details about the service and the procession will be released in due course.
