‘Loved’ dad dies after being punched outside bar as family pay tribute

‘It is heart breaking to know he will never walk through the door and hug his son again’

The devastated family of Piotr Ludwiczak who was killed outside a bar in Bury have paid tribute to the ‘well-liked’ father who was ‘loved by many’.

Piotr Ludwiczak, 35, died after being assaulted outside a bar in Silver Street, Bury, on Saturday July 8th at around 4am. 

Greater Manchester Police say a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder as enquiries are ongoing.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault but has since been released on bail.

Police say Piotr was punched and fell to the ground in a fight which happened outside a bar. Paramedics and officers attended to him before he was rushed to casualty.

Sadly, Piotr died in hospital as a result of his injuries. His family are being supported by specialist officers through this difficult time.

Piotr’s family have paid a loving tribute to the father who had a ‘giant personality’ and was described as being ‘well-liked’ and ‘loved by many’.

A spokesperson for his family said: “Piotr, also known as Peter, was loved by his family and friends.

“He had a giant personality and loved making people laugh, he certainly made his partner and young son smile every day.

“Piotr was well-liked by everyone he met, both in the UK and Poland. He was a gentleman, always keen to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.

“Piotr worked hard to provide for his family and was never happier than when he was spending time with them.

“He was loved by many and there are no words to describe the pain that is now being experienced by all that knew him.

“It is difficult to comprehend that Piotr has died under such tragic and needless circumstances and it is heart breaking to know he will never walk through the door and hug his son again.

“The family are devastated beyond belief and find it hard to imagine life without him.”

Piotr’s family have asked for privacy while they grieve the loss of their loved one.
