A house in Chorlton has partially collapsed after the thunderstorms on Tuesday night.
The house on Stockon Road in the south Manchester suburb collapsed last night, Tuesday June 16th, following huge thunderstorms.
Photographs from the scene show the roof collapsed and bricks strewn across the front of the property.
According to reports in the MEN, witnesses thought the loud noise was initially just ‘lightning’, then there was a flash and the chimney stack moved towards the house next door.
The witness added: “And then the majority of the house just seemed to disappear, and the noise was awful.”
There were no occupants in the house at the time, and luckily there have been no injuries.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been leading the response to the incident, and sent a fire engine to the scene within about 10 minutes, according to the witness.
The emergency crew were working nearby to make the area safe after the crash, and firefighters checked the neighbouring houses for any structural damage.
One Twitter user shared an image of the house with the caption: “House collapsed on Stockton Road, Chorlton! Roof caved in, then the entire left side of the house fell onto house next door”.
They continued: “No one inside at the time I must add”.
