Jason Momoa wears striped silk pyjamas and a crochet cardigan as he becomes the latest star to read on CBeebies Bedtime Stories.

The Aquaman star gets all cosy in the studio to read a classic tale written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, ‘Tiddler’ – the story of a little fish with a big imagination.

As he snuggles into the armchair surrounded by stuffed toys and fairy lights, Jason says: “One of my favourite books that I read to my children as they were growing up was ‘The Gruffalo’, so I am very happy to read another amazing story by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler for a CBeebies Bedtime Story.”

Opening the story he says: “I’m here to read you a Bedtime Story from my underwater kingdom. The sea is full of stories. I could tell you many stories of my amazing adventures in the sea, but I’m not the only one.

“Every creature in the ocean, from the mightiest whale to the tiniest tiddler, has their own tale to tell. And this book is about a very little fish who has some very big stories of his own.”

The children’s programme is due to air on Friday, December 22nd at 6.50pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer. Jason joins a host of celebrities that have read stories for the popular children’s bedtime show.

Kicking off the Christmas story time week was Tom Hardy who read last night (Monday December 18th). Recorded earlier this year in his garden alongside his French bulldog, Blue, Tom reads ‘Tisha and the blossom’ by Wendy Meddour and illustrated by Daniel Egnéus.

The book encourages readers to slow down and notice the world around them.

After reading the story, Tom said: “Tisha has taught me a great lesson, just slow down. The world can be a very, very busy place. Your mind can be full of sounds and pictures and just…busyness.

“So it is important to take your time and slow down and go at your own speed.”

Mr Motivator is also set to take the seat and do a reading. He will read ‘Into the Wild’ by Thomas Docherty on Tuesday, December 19th.

This story is about a little boy called Joe who learns that nature can be found just about everywhere when he goes to find bright and beautiful wild things around the city.

Singer and internet star Talia Mar will also take to the armchair to read ‘Princesses Break Free’ by Timothy Knapman and illustrated by Jenny Løvlie, on Wednesday, December 20th.

This tale takes children on a wild adventure about a princess who takes life in her own hands without waiting for somebody else to come along and rescue her.

And, musician Gaz Coombes will also make a return to CBeebies to read on Thursday, December 21st. Gaz will read ‘Ella May Does It Her Way’, written by Mick Jackson and illustrated by Andrea Stegmaier, about a young girl who likes to do things her way.

About appearing on the much-loved show again to read this story, he says: “It was such a joy to read for the brilliant CBeebies Bedtime Stories again.

This time it’s ‘Ella May Does It Her Way’. It’s a funny, sweet little tale that I hope you all enjoy hearing as much as I did reading it.”
