A school in Greater Manchester has issued a warning about ‘stranger danger’.

The secondary school in Wigan warned parents and students after an incident that occurred when a girl was walking home.

According to St Peter’s Catholic High School in Orrell, a van stopped next to the pupil on Orrell Road near to The Mount pub on Monday afternoon.

A bald man then leaned out of the window and attempted to talk to her, making inappropriate comments, Wigan Today reports.

The girl’s mum has reported the incident to police, the school confirmed.

Staff at St Peter’s have been reminding students about how important it is to stay safe when travelling to school and back.

If you see anything suspicious, you can report it to police on 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
