An elderly cat who is the equivalent of 92 in human years is looking for a final loving home to live out her twilight years.

The 19-year-old moggie called Ginger is looking for an adoptive new owner after she came into the care of the RSPCA because her owner became too ill to care for her anymore.

The mature feline was taken in by the RSPCA Manchester and Salford branch and is believed to be the oldest kitty currently in the animal charity’s care.

Her companion Mollie who is also 19, has now been adopted with it being believed the pair should go to separate homes due to Ginger’s more dominant personality.

Ginger has had a full check up and despite her advancing years, she is believed to be in reasonably good health. Manchester and Salford Branch manager Susie Hughes said: “Ginger has been around the block enough times to know exactly what she wants.

“Her daily mission is to get as close to people as often as she can, and she’s a fantastic organiser of human time, telling her foster carer exactly what she needs.

“She’s a super confident cat who loves being the centre of attention and would spend all day on someone’s lap if she could.

“She’s going to need an adopter who’s as equally as confident though, because she has been known to give a quick swipe of her paw if you try and get up from your chair before she wants you to!

“We’re delighted that Mollie has found her new retirement home but sadly Ginger is still looking. We’d urge people to look beyond her age as it really is just a number and rehoming an older pet can be incredibly rewarding.

“You’re giving them the best possible life in their twilight years and we always do our utmost to ensure a happy ending for every animal that comes into our care, young or old.”

Ginger is now looking for a quiet adult-only home with no other pets living there to live out the rest of her life.
