Ed Sheeran and wife Cherry announce birth of their first child

Ed Sheeran has confirmed that his wife, Cherry Seaborn, has given birth to their first child in a post on Instagram. 

He wrote: “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you … Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x.”

The 28-year-old singer had previously revealed he was taking a break to ‘go out and see some more of the world’.

He also hinted back then that his wife was pregnant, as he wrote that he would be ‘back with some new music’ when he has ‘something to write about’.

The Instagram post, posted earlier today announcing the news, has already racked up over 255,000 likes and nearly 8,000 comments.

Many followers have wished him well with one user writing ‘awwww wonderful news huge congratulations to you both’. Another wrote ‘omg I’m crying’.
