Boris Johnson and his partner Carrie Symonds have announced the birth of a baby boy

According to their spokesperson, both mother and baby are doing very well.

The spokesperson said: “The Prime Minister and Ms Symonds are thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning. Both mother and baby are doing very well.

“The PM and Ms Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team.”

The couple originally announced that Ms Symonds was pregnant at the end of February, adding that they had got engaged.

The Prime Minister only came back to to work on Monday after battling coronavirus in intensive care.

It’s being reported that Dominic Raab will stand in for Mr Johnson at today’s prime minister’s questions later on.
