With just over two months to go until the big day, supermarkets Aldi and Morrisons are looking for over 6,000 new staff between them to work over the festive period.

The supermarkets have kick-started their recruitment drives to cope with the pressures of the busy weeks leading up to Christmas Day.

Morrisons has announced it is looking for 3,500 employees to work across its stores, food manufacturing sites and logistic operations during the coming busy weeks.

Applicants will reportedly receive flexibility while no prior experience for the role is required.

New employees will also benefit from a 15% discount card as well as a 10% family discount card, to use in-store.

Although many of the roles Morrisons are recruiting for are temporary, the supermarket wants to highlight to applicants that many staff members who have previously joined them with similar roles, have gone on to secure permanent positions.

Clare Grainger, People Director at Morrisons said: “Christmas is one of our busiest periods and we’re looking for an additional 3,500 people to join our talented teams.

“These new colleagues will play a crucial role in creating and delivering the products our customers need to help make their celebrations special.”

She continued: “That’s why we’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of new colleagues to our stores and Regional Distribution Centres over the coming months.

“Our colleagues play such a vital role in keeping our shelves stocked throughout the year, which is why we will once again be keeping our stores closed on Boxing Day as a way to say thank you for their continued hard work.”
