If you fancy some more sunshine in your life, then now’s your chance.

That’s right, you can currently buy a house in a beautiful Italian town for the bargain price of just €1 (which converts to 85p at the time of writing).

Bisaccia is located in the south of the Campania region, just two hours from Naples, and the town is currently struggling to revive their local community.

According to CNN Travel, Bisaccia has been affected by numerous earthquakes over the years, and this is cited as a reason for the population decline.

Lots of houses in the quiet town are run down and overgrown, with 90 of these buildings now on the market – so it’ll take a bit of work to get your dream home up to scratch.

Local authorities are hoping groups of friends and families will snatch up the properties, to help boost the community, and that the buildings will be renovated into communal living areas.

You’ll have to commit to renovating the property you purchase, but there is no time frame or minimum spend – local authorities currently own the buildings (rather than former residents) so purchasing a house will be an easy process.

Deputy mayor Francesco Tartaglia told CNN: “We welcome families, groups of friends, relatives, people who know each other or investors to join forces. We encourage them to buy more than just one house to actually have an impact and breathe new life.”

It’s not the first time an Italian town or village has put houses on the market for super cheap, with Sambuca and Mussomeli in Sicily also recently offering homes for 85p.
