Stop everything – Turkey Twizzlers are coming back!!

We famously said goodbye to Turkey Twizzlers way back when in 2005, when Jamie Oliver got his hands on school dinner menus for his Channel 4 series ‘School Dinners’.

The makers of the savoury treats, Bernard Mathews, died a bit of a slow and painful death thereafter – despite saying they had no plans to stop production at the time.

Instead they opted to reduce the fat and salt content, but a few years later after some persistent bashing from Jamie Oliver, Turkey Twizzlers disappeared from supermarkets and were no longer even listed on the Bernard Matthews website.

Until now…

Bernard Matthews had a full rebrand of their social media, and have posted something lightly cryptic which has led everyone to assume Turkey Twizzlers are back BABY!

In a brief 16-second video – which begins with shots of newspaper front pages with headlines like ‘just once a year?!’ and ‘man tortured with quinoa’ – it would appear Bernard Matthews are tempting us with the return of Turkey Twizzlers, and a pretty obvious diss to a certain Mr Oliver.

The video has a voice-over over that sates: “A long time ago, one moment changed everything. But now, with the world more in need of joy than ever, the time has come”

And it really is true, it’s been 15 years, Bernard – we just want Twizzlers back!!!

Naturally, the internet has gone wild. One person has even vowed to book a flight to return to England if it means they can get their hands on some Turkey Twizzlers.

A lot of people are in agreement that it might just be the thing that saves the year. One user added: “Come save our 2020 Bernard Matthews”, while another said ‘Omg if this is turkey twizzlers then it really will be our lord and saviour of 2020’.

One simply wrote: “If Turkey Twizzlers are coming back, the bullshit year that 2020 has been would have [sic] been worth it”.

Hands up if you’re excited!?
