The government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme will see diners able to bag half-price meals when they eat at pubs, restaurants or cafes.

The scheme will see the government paying for half the bill, up to £10 per head, for your meal and non-alcoholic drinks.

The incentive aims to get Brits back to restaurants and pubs and help save the hospitality sector, which has suffered a huge blow from the pandemic.

The discount which is available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday means a meal for two that costs £20 will be reduced to £10.

A meal that is normally £25 for two will be slashed to £15 due to the £10 cap per head.

Burger King is set to cut the cost of the flagship burger down to just £2.25 from £4.49. Burger King boss, Alasdair Murdoch, said on the BBC’s Coronavirus Newscast podcast: “We’ll certainly be embracing it, as long as we can understand the terms and conditions and work them out. But I would think it’s extremely likely that we would do it.”

Frankie & Benny’s told The Sun it will also be knocking 50% off the bill throughout August, which will see a Lasagne Al Forno going for just £4.98.

The firm behind Harvester and Toby Carvery has said it plans to also register with the scheme. Prices will vary depending on which Harvester restaurant you visit. Under the scheme, a Toby Carvery will set you back on average just £4.50.

Nando’s will also be knocking down its prices by 50%, this will make half a chicken with two sides just £5.60, down from £11.20. You’ll also still be able to get your Nando’s points on your order!
