The country’s health workers are currently on the frontline dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, and those absolute heroes deserve our eternal gratitude.

One curry house is doing its bit to help NHS workers, by offering them free curry today.

Mowgli has sites in the Corn Exchange and at University Green, and have sadly made the decision to close their doors due to coronavirus.

They’re going out with an act of kindness though, with the free curry offer also available at all UK branches of Mowgli, which includes Liverpool, Birmingham, Nottingham and Sheffield.

They wrote on Instagram yesterday: “Dear All. After yesterday’s Government announcement and more importantly after watching the plight of our Italian brothers and sisters – our focus at Mowgli is now on curbing the spread of Covid 19. Nothing else matters.

“We intend to close Mowgli across the country as of tomorrow night. Any NHS workers dining in Mowgli today and tomorrow with their NHS ID will receive food for free. It is our way is clapping you from our balconies our dear heroes we thankyou for all you do and all you will do over the next months.

“As we mothball our beloved Mowgli, myself and my senior management team will now work without sleeping on the way in which we can honour our teams over the next months. I believe when the world emerges from this forced restructuring of life, any new dawn will have a place for Mowgli.

“It is because of the loyalty support and encouragement of you our dear dear Mowglites, that we have a chance of hibernating but keeping our little corner of the economy alive and able to re-germinate on any new horizon. For that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. See you on the other side- we wait for that day – and so much Mowgli love to you all”.
