People are branding the name of a festive treat from M&S as ‘disgusting’ and ‘crude’.

M&S introduced the new product on Twitter and it’s left people completely divided.

The new Christmas treat sounds delicious, a yum-yum doughnut hybrid that they’d decided to call ‘Santa’s Yumnut’.

They tweeted a picture of the treat with a pretty hilarious caption: “Who wants a bite of Santa’s Yumnut?”

They’re obviously feeling pretty confident in the name as they’ve gone so far as to trade mark it, but not everyone else is convinced it’s that good.

One person wrote: “Guys, you don’t need to trademark that name; nobody else will want to use it.”

A second added: “This has ruined my Christmas already.”

Comedian David Baddiel quipped: “I know that’s meant to be Santa’s standard belt, but given the really quite misjudged name, I’d say it looks more like Santa’s chastity belt.”

Another replied: “Greggs would never”, while someone else said: “omg need both Santa’s ‘Yumnuts in my mouth”.

Someone else shared in response to the Tweet another of M&S’s festive product, a heart-shaped pig in blanket called ‘Love Sausage’. They wrote: “Try it with a Love Sausage. Goes down a treat”.

The general public aren’t the only one’s replying either, everybody’s favourite nutty chocolate bar, Snickers, has got in on the action too.

They wrote: “We love nuts but we’re quite happy to pass on Santa’s Yumnut. Thanks for the offer though”.

And Specsavers are on hand too: “If anybody needs help popping their eyes back in after reading this, give us a shout.”

What do you think of the name then, anyone gagging for Santa’s Yumnut now?
