Halloumi fries are now available to buy at McDonald’s as the restaurant chain launches its highly-anticipated Mediterranean summer menu.

In the wake of the Italian menu launch last month, McDonald’s has now added four new items inspired by Cyprus and Spain to see out the rest of the summer.

Perhaps the most anticipated addition is, of course, the halloumi fries, which have replaced the beloved mozzarella Dippers as the dominant cheese side order.

A regular portion of halloumi fries – consisting of four sticks – costs £2.49, while a larger ‘sharing’ portion of nine sticks will set customers back £6.49. Both servings come with a rich tomato dip.

Other additions to the new menu include two burgers with Mediterranean-inspired flavours, the Spicy Spanish Stack, the Chicken Fiesta, and the Spanish Fruit Punch, a cold and refreshing fruit drink inspired by Sangria.

The Chicken Fiesta features a chicken fillet topped with chorizo and a spicy salsa sauce, all encased within a bun seasoned with paprika and chilli.

The Spicy Spanish Stack, meanwhile, which comes with two beef patties, chilli cheddar, red onions, spicy tomato sauce and lettuce, all served in a bun seasoned with paprika.

Both burgers will set customers back £5.39 on their own, or £6.89 as part of a meal deal.

All items from the Mediterranean menu will be on the menu for the rest of the summer until September 2nd.

However, the arrival of these new items signals the departure of the Italian menu launched just last month – this includes the Italian Stack, the Crispy Chicken Italiano, and the mozzarella Dippers.

And just to add to the bad news, McDonald’s today confirmed it would be rising the price of its cheeseburger for the first time in fourteen years, from 99p to £1.19. The restaurant cited inflation as a reason for the price increase.
