McDonald’s fans have been left ‘devastated’ after discovering the new Chicken Big Mac is no longer on the menu.

The chicken version of the McDonald’s classic was launched across UK restaurants at the start of this month and proved to be a massive hit among dedicated burger fans.

However, the UK’s love for the limited edition burger was unprecedented because, today, McDonald’s has announced that it has sold out ‘almost everywhere’.

In a tweet this morning, the fast food giant said: “Well, that escalated quickly. Your love for the limited edition Chicken Big Mac knew no bounds and it’s sold out almost everywhere.

“Thank you for lovin’ it even more than we thought you would, it’ll be back soon.”

Of course, this news left many McDonald’s fans completely ‘devastated’, especially those who haven’t yet had a chance to try the new burger.

One person commented: “Back soon? Are you serious, just make it permanent!!!! It was the best thing I’ve ever eaten at McDonald’s!”

Another expressed their dismay in a slightly more dramatic manner, writing: “Nooooo I haven’t had a chance yet! I am devastated.”

McDonald’s reassured it’s fans that the Chicken Big Mac will be making a come back, saying in a tweet: “We’re working on bringing it back soon! Stay tuned to our social channels and we’ll be the first to let you know.”

If you’ve somehow missed the news this last week, the Chicken Big Mac adopts the traditional Big Mac structure complete with the signature sauce. However, instead of two beef patties, the new version will come with two crispy chicken fillets.

The chicken version of the staple burger is 50p more expensive than the original, which costs £3.59, though prices may vary between branches.

It also packs in more calories with 544kcal, compared to the traditional Big Mac which has 508kcal.
