COMING SOON: Asia’s favourite fried chicken restaurant is opening in Manchester

Popular Filipino fast food restaurant Jollibee will soon be arriving here in Manchester, and it will change the way you eat fried chicken forever.

First established in the Philippines in 1978, Jollibee quickly became one of the most beloved fried chicken spots in the whole of Asia, with it now boasting restaurants in 1,400 locations across Asia, Europe, the US and, more recently, here in the UK.

And now, after months of rumours, it has been confirmed that Jollibee will be opening its first ever restaurant here in Manchester – down Market Street (where the old Carphone Warehouse once stood), to be precise.

It is well known among die-hard Jollibee fans that a menu highlight is the ‘Chickenjoy Fried Chicken’, their signature fried chicken recipe that is said to give the Colonel a run for his money.

Other menu highlights include chicken tenders, wraps, and chicken buckets, plus a fried chicken rice bowl topped with rainbow slaw and Asian ginger chilli sauce, sriracha chicken loaded fries, and a variety of fries and rice.

There will also be a number of tasty fried chicken burgers up for grabs, including a tropical chicken burger packed with a crispy fried chicken breast, pineapple, cheese, lettuce and Asian ginger chilli sauce, and a spicy chicken burger coated in a hot and spicy crumb and served with sriracha mayo.

And the ‘Jolly Spaghetti’ – a combination of chopped up hot dogs and a sweet Filipino-style tomato sauce – is a must try for those wanting to taste something a little different.

And as for the sides, there will of course be huge tubs of gravy to indulge upon (because what fried chicken restaurant is complete without gravy?), plus pots of sweet chilli, sriracha mayo, and Asian ginger chilli sauce.

Jollibee also caters for those with a sweet tooth, with a tasty desert menu consisting of mango coconut and chocolate coconut ice cream sundaes, both made up of vanilla soft serve topped with either mango sauce, mango pieces and coconut, or Jollibee’s chocolate sauce.
