Chorlton-based tapas bar, San Juan, is set to reopen bigger than before to accommodate social distancing.
The tapas bar on Beech Road has been closed since the beginning of lockdown but in a statement on their website, they will be temporarily expanding into the neighbouring building and former pub The Parlour.
This means they can ‘accommodate as many customers as possible’ as part of their reopening on July 4th.
Like other restaurants and bars, Bar San Juan is permitted to reopen on July 4th and will do so with table service indoors for customers.
Bar San Juan is continuing its normal operations without bookings, instead using a waiting list which will call you 15 minutes before your table is ready.
You will be allocated a two hour time slot on your table to allow for greater accuracy in the waiting list and to give ample time for disinfecting the table after each guest.
The new guidelines state that people should only visit restaurants with their household groups, or with one other household or if you have a support bubble in place.
They also state that people can meet up to five people outdoors from any amount of households.
The statement from San Juan says: “Bar San Juan is looking forward to re-opening and accommodating as many customers as possible so we have acquired a building -formally Parlour – one door away from Bar San Juan to encourage social distancing.
“As we have never taken reservations we are trying out different booking systems but we would like to first see how this new normal works before we start with it.
“In the meantime we are setting up a similar system to the one we have always had that we can manage within the bar for walk-ins. You will join a waiting list and be called 15 minutes prior to the table being ready. There will be a set time on each table of 2 hours in order for us to be more accurate when we have to call customers and also have time for us to disinfect the table.”
