Boxpark, London’s unique and overwhelmingly popular street food, drinking and entertainment complex built out of old shipping containers, is making plans to open a venue here in Manchester, new reports are claiming.
Boxpark was first born in Shoreditch in 2011, and has since expanded to London boroughs Wembley and Croydon following the massive success of the flagship site.
And now, the concept is reportedly looking at expanding to the capital of the North, our very own Manchester.

According to reports, the first Boxpark outside of the capital city will be setting up shop in Albert Shed, on the corner of Water Street and New Quay Street in the city centre’s new St John’s district – down where the old Granada Studios once stood.
Though Boxpark haven’t yet confirmed the rumours, Allied London’s Enterprise City and Boxpark are close to agreeing a lease on the 30,000 sq ft Manchester location.
Speaking to Place North West, Allied’s chief executive Mike Ingall said: “The deal is not done yet but we have shaken hands and that is good enough for me.

“We are seeking to add as much diversity as we can to St John’s and support the commercial buildings with other uses.”
Boxpark Manchester is predicted to be open by June 2022, according to Ingall.
Much like Hatch down Oxford Road, Boxpark will host a number of independent food and drink vendors and artists from Greater Manchester.
