Ordsall Hall is so haunted they even have a live Ghost Cam

Orsdall Hall has been voted one of the most haunted buildings in the North West and there’s a chilling reason for it. 

The old, eerie looking building is tucked away in and amongst all the sky rises of modern Salford. The hidden gem that dates back over 750 years has even appeared on TV’s Most Haunted way back when in 2004. 

The Elizabethan black and white half-timbered manor house is home to a chilling atmosphere with at least three known and regularly appearing ghosts. 

The North West’s 15th most haunted building has its own Ghost Cam and offers regular Ghost Walks with a medium. 

Guests are taken around the old Hall in groups with a medium who tries to make contact with the spirits.

More often that not, the medium is successful and paranormal reports are in the bucket loads. 

The most commonly reported paranormal activity takes place in the Star Chamber which is often filled with the voices of small children. 

Visitors to this room often report the room becoming colder, including getting shivers and feeling random cold drafts from nowhere. There’s even been reports of people feeling large freezing hands on their shoulders.

One report notes an oppressive presence appearing suddenly in the room, leaving the visitor feeling incredibly intimidated.

The characters include the former Lord of Ordsall Hall, John Radcliffe, a young woman who lived there called Cecily, and the infamous White Lady. 

John Radcliffe inherited Ordsall Hall from his family in 1536. Back then the hall was one of the most important seats in the whole county. 

John was a religious family man who often found himself in conflict between his faith and his Queen. Nowadays, his spirit is no fan of strangers, particularly those in his bedroom and has been known to grab visitors and shove them out of the way. 

When Cecily’s presence is noted, it does not come alone. A smell of fresh roses fills the air. The flowers are thought to represent her past, being jilted on the morning of her wedding, and throwing herself to her death from the top of the main staircase in the Hall. 

Cecily often makes an appearance when there are parties of schoolchildren in the area for whatever mystifying reason. 

Ordsall Hall is not without its crazy heartbroken lady, The White Lady (Lady Margaret Radclyffe), who jumped from the balcony in the Star Chamber in 1599 after the death of her brother. 

She’s seen as a woman in white, or sometimes just a candle floating on its own.

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, Ordsall Hall seemingly has something paranormal going on there. 

There has been photographic evidence of ghostly figures in the Star Chamber and the ghost cameras run throughout the hall most of the time.
